The brief

Our client wanted to take a group to the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Congress. Oxford International has been fortunate to take this group to the EASD for many years, so the challenge lies in improving the service every year and continuing to deliver the “wow” factor.

The solution: The Grande Bretagne Hotel, Athens, Greece

The Grande Bretagne Hotel Athens was used for accommodation, the welcome dinner and the post-congress feedback meeting. Oxford International had booked this hotel space three years in advance, and so achieved very competitive rates by not having to go through the housing bureau. To make sure our delegates saw the best of Athens, dinners were also held in Orizontes and Pil Poul restaurants – one having a 360 degree panoramic view of the city, the other overlooking the Acropolis.

Oxford International arranged all travel, and created personalised luggage tags for our delegates’ congress bags. An Athens travel guide was sent out with the final information for delegates two weeks before the event. All congress registration packs were collected early and put into delegate rooms prior to their arrival.

The response

Our client was delighted with the overall organisation of the event, and Oxford International continues to arrange their congress attendance. One delegate commented that it was “the best sponsored event I have ever attended”.
